The Rise and Fall of the Carolingian Empire
This timeline is about the rise and fall of the Carolingian empire. The Carolingian began in Eastern Europe with the end of the kingdom era and the beginning of the regional power of the Frankish Dukes. Charles Martel was the most successful. With his establishment, Frankish military, kingship, influence and heirs, this began the Carolingian Dynasty. Charles Martel's son Pepin III solidified the empire with the alliance of the papacy. Along with the political structure created by Pepin's son Charlemagne laid the foundation for future European medieval government. The Carolingian Empire did not survive Charlemagne's grandsons.
