The Enlightenment was characterized by reason and logic. It was time of many great philosphers and was filled with scientific discoveries such as those of Issac Newton and other physicists and chemists.

Literature in the Enlightment was often popularized in the forms of books and informational papers and pamphlets. Much of the literature of the time was characterized by themes of social upheavel and political satire.
