In 1955, , one woman, Rosa Parks, decided to not relinquish her seat in the front of a bus for a white person, subsequently causing her to be arrested. Her actions spurred the boycott of the buses, led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., which ultimately was successful despite attempts to end the boycott.
